HRD explosion suppression system
Active explosion suppression system
HRD system is an effective solution for explosion protection of any technological equipment. The HRD system reduces explosion pressure to a low level and protects equipment from destructive consequences.
The HRD system is characterized by extremely rapid introduction of the extinguishing agent into the equipment. Thanks to high-speed sensors, the HRD system suppresses an explosion in 60 milliseconds.
Benefits:
- System speed
- Reliability
- Indoor and outdoor use
- For toxic and other hazardous materials
- Independent data archiving
- Various application options for components
- Easy and quick replacement of components
- The system is applicable for light metal dusts, hybrid mixtures and gases
- Use for dust class St 3

Operating principle of the explosion suppression system
- LEL (Lover Explosion Limit) – the minimum concentration of explosive dust at which an explosion can occur
- UEL (Upper Explosion Limit) – the maximum concentration of explosive dust at which an explosion can occur.

< LEL

> UEL

LEL β€ ... β€ UEL
When the dust concentration is in the LEL…UEL range, an explosion will occur if an ignition source is present.
The principle of operation of the HRD explosion suppression system is to dilute the explosive concentration of dust by quickly spraying the powder inside the process equipment, due to which the explosion is suppressed at its early stage, when the explosion pressure is still at values safe for the equipment.
The explosion sensor constantly evaluates the presence of flame or pressure, when an explosion is detected, the sensor sends a signal to the Conex controller which activates the HRD container, which sprays powder inside the equipment within milliseconds, thereby suppressing the explosion in the equipment.

Explosion Suppression System Components

CONEX
The ConEx controller receives, evaluates and records information from sensors, and when an explosion is detected, it sends a signal to activate the container. For personnel it acts as a user interface for the ability to configure and assess the status of the system.

DETEX / LUMEX
The HRD system has two explosion detection sensor options: DetEx pressure sensor and LumEx optical sensor. The sensor takes readings in real time and sends them to the ConEx controller. The pressure sensor is equipped with two read heads, and the optical sensor operates only in the infrared range, which helps protect the explosion suppression system from false alarms.

HRD container
The main component of the explosion suppression system is the HRD container in which the powder is stored. If an explosion is detected, the ConEx controller activates a cylinder, which, through a built-in nozzle, sprays powder inside the protected equipment, thereby suppressing the explosion at its early stage.
